Fast Forward

Life has been happening at a pretty rapid pace around here, and I figure I should probably post an update so we're all on the same page.

1. Cade and I are in the process of buying a house- we're at the "sit and wait" stage, after having the inspection done and having an electrician come in and check out the wiring. Everything looks good- we have a few minor things to fix, but nothing to call Mike Holmes about. The appraisal is happening this week, and we close June 5.

for the front door, thanks to Pinterest
2. The house is in Fredericksburg, meaning my time here in Pennsylvania is quickly coming to a close (last day of work: 5/31, moving: 6/9). Making the decision to live in Virginia was one of the hardest things I've ever been a part of, because I hate to leave my students. We've had a good year, and it's been awesome to hear them reflect on our time together. God gets the glory when our students grow in their faith, and it's been a blessing to hear the new ways they've connected with our Creator.

3. There is a LOT coming up for us this year- not only will we be navigating our way through being first time homeowners, but we've also got a full plate with trips and visits and event planning- Cade's birthday is June 17, Kelli, Gram, and Murray are coming in June/July, Josh and Kate are getting married in July in IL, Jake and Lauren are getting married in Sept. in LA, and oh yeah, we're getting married in June of next year. In Louisiana. With a separate reception in August in Indiana. Oh, and finding a job in Virginia. That, too. Never a dull moment!

4. I'm hoping to get back into blogging, especially with all our home projects and adventures. I've had a hard time writing much over the past couple years due to the "battle of the blogosphere-" the situation where you post to share life with friends and family, and other people come across your blog, twist your words, and look for ways to use it against you (I know that sounds stupid and very 7th grade, but it's seriously a thing. the world is weird). It'll be nice to breathe a little life back into this place. I kind of felt like I abandoned a friend when I temporarily shut it down last fall.

Long post, but that's the gist of it all. Three more weeks until we call this bad boy "home," and I totally can't wait.
