Last night was our senior high lock-in at the church, and it was one of the most fun nights I've had in awhile :) we had 28 kids spend the night, although very few actually slept (of course!).
We started out at Paige's Crossing to see "the lush funk spectrum" (a band 3 of my guys are in). They were really great and did a wide variety of songs, from "bubbly" by Colbie Callait to some pretty intense metal songs :) I was super proud of them because they also were able to share they're faith a bit, and that can be scary, especially towards your peers. After they played, we had free reign on Paige's, and we helped raise money for SADD.
Afterwards we headed over to the church, played Capture the Flag and a few rounds of Sardines, before half the kids passed out. The other half settled in to watch The Sandlot, and the last group to go to bed did so around 5:30, only to get up at 8!! Then we ate, cleaned up, and headed over to rake leaves for a church member. Only Jesus could have provided energy for that, and it was a lot of fun (and a lot of hard work). I'm so proud of my kids- they never stopped today, even though they were exhausted and hot. A true example of the hands and feet of Jesus!
When I got home, I found out Cleo had tried to make a jailbreak from the bedroom, so tomorrow afternoon I have a small home repair project. At first I was furious- she knows better. Then when I took her out, she got out of her collar and I thought I'd lose her. She didn't run, she stayed with me, and I got her collar on. Long story short, I'd rather have to replace a patch of carpet than my crazy little monster. She hasn't left my side since I got home, which is nice since I'm exhausted. She's a really good dog- she just has some separation anxieties :)
This weekend was great- I already miss my kids and can't wait to see them tomorrow. This is what youth ministry is all about:)
